Tracy Reese’s fall collection, which was full of fun animal prints, was a standout during New York Fashion Week in February for so many reasons (not to mention the cat that walked the runway on a chic leash!).
Here, the designer offered Glamour a sneak peek at her spring 2014 collection. “This season is all about texture play,” Tracy said. “We introduce bold textured laces paired against a modern mixed scale of prints. The collection also has gorgeous dresses and a strong sportswear vibe that has an athletic edge. We’re introducing what I consider the new sporty suit silhouette: a golf jacket paired with fresh full midiskirts or culottes”.
She’s designed a striped scarlet and black flyaway T-shirt, structured white trousers, a bold lapis and scarlet floral flyaway dress, and “fisherman-inspired” sandals, which you can see in her sketch below.
“I drew my inspiration for the spring collection from the energy and spirit of Afro-Cuban cultures, and you can see this influence translated within the bold prints and unique textures used throughout the collection.”
One of the designer’s biggest fans, Michelle Obama, will surely be happy to hear that Tracy will also have plenty of those prints she loves for spring. You may recall her wearing this dress at the Democratic National Convention.
