Miuccia Prada collaborated with costume designer Catherine Martin

The Italian designer Miuccia Prada and Miu Miu has altered 40 designs from her archives for Baz Luhrmann’s big screen adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’. Acording with Grazia, Prada’s Creative Director has a long-standing relationship with Luhrmann having worked with the director in the past on Romeo & Juliet, also starring Leonardo DiCaprio as well as a series of short films. The designer worked with Luhrmann’s wife, costume designer Catherine Martin on the film. “I usually try not to literally reference periods in my work, because that’s not the way I think,” Prada told US Vogue. “But when I worked on the costumes, I realised how many pieces would become very Twenties with a little intervention and another point of view.”
