On September 18th, North American fashion icon Iris Apfel was in Brazil for the first time, for a lecture on Swarovski trends at JK Iguatemi Shopping Center in São Paulo.
The 92 years old decorator is full of style and doesn’t follow trends. She condemns them because they make people lose their own identity: their personalities change every season!
She does not give importance to luxury brands although Ralph Rucci is one of her favorites. However, Iris prefers simpler pieces, accessorized with her large round glasses, the trademark of the fashionista granny.
The eccentric Iris showed from youth what she wanted: in the 40es she was a student of art at the University of Wisconsin and one of the first women to wear jeans!
How decorator Iris participated in restoration projects in the White House to different presidents.
In 2004 Iris had an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of New York: it occupied the whole Costume Institute area destined to fashion: 85 looks full of accessories and stories to tell.
Full of life, humor and lots of style, Iris Apfel lessons on how to be ourselves without losing our essence!
