It’s no secret that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana always adored what is glitziness and glamour; in November 2013 they launched a stunning new make-up collection to capture the majestic essence of Christmas.

Shaped in collaboration with make-up artist Pat McGrath, the luxurious collection is an  explosions of golden and precious stones that evoke  the byzantine mosaics and the decorations of baroque Sicilian Cathedrals.

Designed to be worn as jewels, the range is made up of lipsticks and nail varnishes created to resemble real stones, the colors are extremely pigmented and gorgeously excessive like only real gems can be. Ruby is a deep red that looks just like you might imagine and its the only classic shade of the group. Amethyst is a bright purple with a insinuation of deep shine,  Emerald is a shocking and very elegant green and Topaz, a dramatic metallic gold, which looks more yellow in the tube than it does when is on your skin.

Those four new shades are theatrical and playful at the same time, they are so sparkly and special to become the perfect match to any Christmas or New Year outfit. They can be interpreted in a funny and ironic way, or be worn with a more adult and sophisticated feeling. Just like you would do with a real piece of vintage jewelry.

The collection also mirrors the pieces from Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 13 shows, which were full of sparkling jeweler and head pieces.

Stefano Gabbana, recently spoke about how much he loves to use shimmery accessories.

“I love jewels; they are a symbol of power and passion. I love how they reflect the light: that’s why they have always been part of our collections since the very beginning,”

The collection is available in limited edition in the best perfume shop starting from November 2013.

Would you be able to wear a green lipstick?
