UP…UP… and away! Getting high with Spijkers en Spijkers “SIS” and going “Around the World in a Day” MBFWA 2014.

Spijkers en Spijkers sisters close MBFW 2014 with SIS and their new spring/summer collection 2014.

On Monday, January 27, the twin Dutch design duo: Spijkers en Spijkers closed the 20th edition of this seasons Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam 2014.  Presenting their  “Around the World in a Day”  collection of their line “SIS”, inspired by  Jule Verne’s novel ” Around the World in 80 Days “,  this season’s  collection combined: checkered suits, clouds printed graphics, skirts and dresses with airy prints Paired with sweaters and jackets of merino wool and mohair.  The color palette of this collection consisted of blue, wine, black, gray and red mixed with  a yellow-ish green and a feeling of “fresh”.  Clouds bags, ear, muffs and socks in high heels were the acessories, setting this seasons trends to emphasize the playful nature of the feminine, while the pieces set a stylish, romantic and comfortable tone as the design sisters took the audience on a “trip in a hot air balloon across the clouds” through the experience of their show.
Marie Claire, a loyal fan of the twins, hosted the show and presented “SIS”at the Gasometer in Amsterdam to the national and internaional presses.  ” The style of Spijkers en Spijkers fits perfectly with Marie Claire . If the fashion glossy with content we support strong , independent women like Truus and Riet . They have their entrepreneurship, born in a small village in Overijssel , realized their dream and are now successful and inspired in the fashion world . The Dutch designer sisters Truus and Riet won the Marie Claire “Prix de la Mode”award in 2010 for Best upcoming Dutch Designer, and the 50,000 prins bernard mode stipendium in 2013, and are backed up by the Dutch Fashion Foundation and many more.  Keep your eyes on this twin design duo because you will definitely see them again in the near future.
