Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere

Chances are you’re an obsessed Cupcakes and Cashmere fan, just like we are. Seriously, who doesn’t love fashion and food? (Plus some fabulous beauty tips thrown in there too.) The brains behind the relatable lifestyle blog, Emily Schuman, has quite a following of her own as well. So clearly, Emily’s down-to-earth vibe, impeccable sense of style, and smart-girl DIY savvy make her the ideal fashion expert to collaborate with Club Monaco on a perfect-for-work capsule collection!

Speaking of work, Emily has been making the rounds nonstop on a cross-country promo tour. But the ever-dedicated multitasker was more than happy to answer a few of our burning questions about—you guessed it—what to wear to work this summer. Here goes!

GLAMOUR: What’s your idea of the perfect summer work wardrobe?
Emily Schuman: Summer is all about easy dressing; nothing should be overly thought-out or fussy. My go-to pieces include a sparkly flat sandal, lots of dresses (in pretty prints, eyelet, lace and white), and patterned tunics. I like when everything is relatively interchangeable, which is ideal for hot mornings when you don’t want to have to think too hard when putting together an outfit.

What would you suggest wearing to the office when it’s really hot outside? (But most likely freezing inside.)
ES: The most important thing about a summer work wardrobe is that it’s transitional. It can go from the sweltering heat outdoors to an overly air-conditioned office space and still look put-together. For me, that consists of a lightweight dress, a trench to throw over your shoulders (the leather-trimmed option from my capsule collection with Club Monaco would be ideal) and a flat sandal that still looks polished.

And what’s your ideal outfit combination to go from office to cocktails?
I think it’s less about the outfit and more about the accessories. Swipe on a punchy lipstick, spritz on some perfume, change into some high-heeled sandals, and pack your essentials into a clutch.
