The Summer Songs Designers Are Grooving To (and You’ll Want to Download ASAP)

Summer calls for a lot of things, including (but not limited to) white dresses, swimsuits, sandals galore, and a refreshed playlist. And since tunes are nearly always better when recommended by someone with outstanding taste, we went to some designers who seem to know what the relaxed season’s all about (like Tommy Hilfiger, who’s looking for “anything upbeat, happy, and positive”).

See who likes what, and why, and then start listening below.

What’s playing on Tommy Hilfiger’s summer playlist:
“Roar” by Katy Perry
“Happy” by Pharrell
“Ziggy Stardust” by David Bowie (“always a cult classic”)
“Let It Go” by Idina Menzel (because “my son Sebastian sings it over and over”)

What’s playing on Tory Burch’s summer playlist:
“A Summer Song” by Chad and Jeremy
“Seasons (Waiting on You)” by Future Islands
“Embrace” by Goldroom
“To the Top” by Twin Shadow
“The Wild Life” by Vacationer

What’s playing on Kate Spade and Company chief creative officer Deborah Lloyd’s summer playlist:
“Happy” by Pharrell
“Call Me” by Blondie
“Only the Horses” by Scissor Sisters
“Get Lucky” by Daft Punk

What’s playing on Rebecca Taylor’s summer playlist:
“Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf (because it’s “the ultimate summer road-trip song”)
“Rebel Rebel” by David Bowie (because “no playlist of mine is complete without Bowie”)
“I Melt With You” by Modern English (because “I love something I can sing along to in the showroom when I’m working in the summer”)
