This Might Be the Weirdest Jewelry Coffee Table Book Ever (And We’re Fascinated, Clearly)

I have a fascination with the Burning Man festival, namely because I just can’t wrap my head around what it is, what it means, and what goes on. Since I don’t see myself ever attending, I’m excited about a new book giving everyone a peek into one of the most fascinating parts: the gifting.

The book is currently being called Jewelry of the Playa and is described as “stories and pictures about jewelry and the culture of collecting, making, and gifting at Burning Man” (from my understanding, money’s forbidden so you’re supposed to make your own small items to barter with).

The book will cover festival jewelry from 1993 to 2013, with a lot from the personal collection of one of the co-authors, reportedly one of the largest in the world. If you’re fascinated (or know a burner), you can pre-order the book for $50 here.
