This sounds like a sentence you never thought you’d read, but you can now work out in leggings designed by legendary Twin Peaks director. David Lynch, who is known as the master of surreal and bizarro imagery, teams up with US clothing brand Live the Process to launch a six-piece collection of women’s sportswear. And it looks incredibly down-to-earth (except maybe for the prices – the brand belongs to the luxury segment). The floral print might not be groundbreaking for spring, as as famously pointed out by Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, but when a surrealist does it, you might not have seen that coming.
There is an explanation, though. Being committed to Transcendental meditation (TM) for many years, Lynch runs a namesake charity aimed to raise public awareness of TM. Together with actress and model Alyssa Miller, they have worked on a designer collaboration on the “basis of enlightenment”. A portion of raised money will be going towards funding for DLF’s mission to make learning TM accessible to everyone globally.
Some sources report that the director himself was not really involved in the designing process of the capsule collection. Either way, Lynch is no stranger to fashion – last year, Blue Velvet director debited on a runway by designing a set for Kenzo’s autumn/winter 2014 show. We are definitely looking forward to see more of his work, preferably in velvet.
