Shop the Hottest Emmys Red Carpet Trends for Your Fall Look

While there were plenty of surprises and upsets during the Emmys ceremony, the preceding red carpet gave us just as much to discuss and debate. (Although it wasn’t quite the same sans Ryan Seacrest.) We love a good awards show red carpet, especially when the timing coincides with our fall shopping plans. So let’s take a look at the hottest trends to come out of the Emmys 2014—and shop them out for our next season’s wardrobe.

Red, Red, Red
We obviously must start out with the red dress situation—from Claire Danes in her lace-paneled Givenchy to Mindy Kaling in a metallic-trimmed Kenzo to January Jones in a modern princess dress by Prabal Gurung to Heidi Klum in a pared-down coral Zac Posen—50 shades of red, in a multitude of silhouettes, completely dominated the show. Seriously, sometimes it felt a little awkward when multiple crimson-wearing stars were on the screen together in one shot, but hey, that means we need to swap out our LBDs for a LRD instead.

Heavy Metal
Instead of taking the risk of blending into the red carpet, some ladies opted for shimmery metallic gowns—from Gwen Stefani‘s more laid-back and futuristic two-piece Versace look (made entirely out of Swarovski crystals) to Beyoncé’s Amy Poehler‘s disco ball gown by Theia. So go on, play with a little or a lot of sparkle this season.White Hot

Either these ladies are getting in their last week of summer whites or they plan on flouting the no-longer-controversial “white after Labor Day rule” because the alabaster look was all over the red carpet too. From Kristen Wiig‘s minimalist Vera Wang gown that could double as a wedding dress to Robin Wright‘s Ralph Lauren custom jumpsuit that almost broke the Internet to Sofia Vergara‘s va-va-voom silver-embellished Roberto Cavalli, white was giving red a run for its money. And for the last time, you can wear it all year.

Halter-ing Traffic

And we must discuss the halter silhouette. The shoulder- and clavicle-baring cut (never mind the sexy open backs) makes us want to go and bust out some pull-ups at the gym and co-opt two of the best looks of the night (in my opinion at least): Michelle Dockery‘s color-blocked and impeccably draped Rosie Assoulin dress and Lizzy Caplan‘s flawless black-and-white Donna Karan Atelier gown. *Sigh.*
