Not only was Kristen Wiig one of the highlights from the Emmy Awards red carpet last week (and there was a lot to choose from), she’s actually one of our favorite style girls in general. I know sometimes it’s easy to overlook because she’s so crazy talented and versatile as an actress (comedy, drama, a little bit of both, she can do it all). Kristen has this supreme skill of morphing into any role she plays—be it one of her unforgettable characters on Saturday Night Live (hair twirling one-upper Penelope, the Target Lady, her dead-on impression of Suze Ormond… ) to, of course, the world’s worst maid of honor that you can’t help but empathize with in Bridesmaids to playing former SNL colleague Bill Hader’s sister in the upcoming The Skeleton Twins. Of course, let’s not forget that she’s also a brilliant screenwriter, director, and producer, too. So forgive us if we sometimes gloss over the fact that she’s a fashion girl at heart—always willing to take a style risk on the red carpet, but also revel in a princess gown once in awhile. So for being an all-around fabulous person, Kristen Wiig is our Glamour Style Icon of the Week. Take a look at some of her top looks that we love—and we can’t wait to see more!
Kristen hit the Oscars (and following Vanity Fair party) in 2012 to celebrate her Best Original Screenplay nomination for Bridesmaids. Her luminous, ruffled champagne gown by J. Mendel was perfect for the milestone occasion.
The multi-hyphenate can do bold color and cocktail chic like a pro, too. The same year, she opted for a kelly green Calvin Klein midi-length sheath dress the same year, accented with a sultry slit up the front and sculptural nude platforms.
At last year’s premiere for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, she went modern princess in a geometric-print bustier and ballgown skirt ensemble by Martin Grant and gold python pumps by Manolo Blahnik.
Earlier this year at the premiere of the soapy mini-series spoof The Spoils of Babylon, Kristen had some fun—and took a red carpet risk—in a regally embroidered and embellished mini-dress from the Valentino spring 2014 collection.
Then she went edgy in a leather-paneled, asymmetrical, and color-blocked J. Mendel dress at the Hateship Loveship premiere in April. (Sheesh, she’s busy!)
And let’s take another moment to marvel over how stunning she looked in this elegant slip gown by Vera Wang from the Emmys last week. Sigh.
