CMA Awards Red Carpet: Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Others Bring the Romantic-Glam

Tonight was a very stylish night for the country music world and its honorary residents (I’m looking at you, Nicole Kidman and Lily Aldridge). The CMA Awards red carpet extended in Nashville to welcome a whole crew of gorgeous gals who, for the most part, skipped racy dresses in favor of romantic, super-feminine gowns that had a country-cool princess air to them.

Miranda Lambert did slinky pale pink satin that hearkened back to the days of glam retro movie stars. She kept the girly look going later too in this performance outfit we got to preview for you (and, spoiler, she picked the colorway I predicted!).

Carrie Underwood is giving Blake Lively a run for her chic maternity money! She was a true golden girl in this glimmering pick, and I liked how the raised hemline kept all that beading from feeling too heavy.

It was a black-tie kinda night for Kimberly Perry, who went with a stunning classic silhouette I could totally imagine on the red carpet of the world’s biggest awards shows.

Kellie Pickler picked a similar shape but had a steamier overall look thanks to the paneling with sheer stripes throughout. Her jewelry is by Tacori.

Nicole Kidman supported hubby Keith Urban in this gorgeous white dress with eyelet and pleating details. For Hollywood events, she tends to pick simpler, streamlined looks, but I like this romantic vibe on her!

Also supporting a rock-star partner was Lily Aldridge, who was one of the red carpet’s sexiest in this curve-hugging dress with sheer sides that extended all the way to the floor.

Faith Hill was classy as could be in this spotted Naeem Khan style with a jaunty bow at the neck.

Any other Nashville fans out there? How good does Connie Britton look in this green-and-black cocktail frock, also by Naeem Khan?

The orange-red color of Lucy Hale’s dress nearly blended in with the carpet, but not to worry: It was gorgeous enough that I made it out just fine. I love the hue, and I adore how that smart black belt, worn right at her waist, broke up the color.
