Maria Sharapova may have to wear tennis whites at Wimbledon, but off the court, she is all about experimenting with fashion. From bright pops of color to prints, Maria is the USTA’s resident fashionista. Here, she tells us a think or two about her sartorial choices.
“I’m a big fan of pattern in the summer time—it feels good to be a bit more playful when the weather gets warm,” she said. To get her pattern fix, her go-to designers are Isabel Marant, Rag & Bone and Rick Owens.
“I really love Alexander McQueen and Lanvin for red carpet looks,” said Maria.
“I also love a pop of bright—especially in a shoe,” she said. “I love adding in one unexpected element to any look.”
Since Maria was headed to a Wimbleon pre-party in this pic, I asked her what she listens to before a big match. “I love the soundtrack to [The Great] Gatsby—especially Lana del Rey’s “Beautiful”. When I need to get the tempo up, I love Rihanna—I just saw her concert in London.
Which outfit worn by Maria do you like best? I think my favorite look is the first one!
