Become a Fashion Risk Taker With the Help of Couture Designer Zuhair Murad

If you don’t know Zuhair Murad by name, you definitely know him by his gorgeous couture dresses, which have been worn by some of the biggest celebs in the business, including Jennifer Lopez and Blake Lively.

One thing to know about Zuhair: he makes dresses that stand out in a crowd. The woman that wears his designs isn’t afraid to try something a little different and be a fashion risk taker.

On the eve of his couture show, the Lebanese designer spoke to us about his favorite all-time looks and how we can take these red carpet/runway moments and translate them into our own life. I have three black-tie weddings coming up, so I’ll be using these tips very soon!

His favorite dresses have been worn by Blake Lively at the Los Angeles premiere of her film Savages, Jennifer Lopez at the Met Ball and Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards.

Zuhair said taking a fashion risk is all about striking the right balance. “If you are wearing a spectacular dress, make sure your accessories and makeup don’t overpower – and vice versa.” Blake Lively shows us how it’s done.

Wear your dress with confidence and don’t be afraid to stick out among your friends. “What I love about the celebrities who wear Zuhair Murad, is that they embody the statement they are making,” he said. “My pieces are made to standout, and it’s truly the woman who wears it that gives the dress life. I always tell my clients to feel the beauty of the dress, inside and out!” Jennifer Lopez clearly has no shortage of confidence on the red carpet!

One risk you don’t want to take (especially when you’re out of town) is packing only one dress for a special occasion. “Give yourself options,” he concluded. “Quite often weather conditions and last-minute changes can result in the dress of dreams, becoming your first obstacle of the night. Always be sure to have one or two dresses in waiting, as you never know what can happen in the final hour.”

If you love what you see here, he has plenty more gowns on the way with his upcoming couture collection. This season, he said he was inspired by a glamorous woman sleeping in her bedroom on a winter night.

“She is wearing silk and lace, and she wakes at midnight to go for a walk but amongst the black, leafless forest, she sparkles within the night,” he said. This is going to be one sexy couture presentation!
