3 Outfits That Look Better With a Baseball Cap

OK, yes, I know this girl is technically wearing a basketball cap, but let’s just call this style a baseball cap for the sake of my sanity. Cool? Anyway, I’m OBSESSED with snapbacks and caps! I blame 10 percent of that obsession on the fact that my hair is currently in the Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber phase of my grow-out, but pretty much everywhere I look, girls are rocking baseball caps. I’m voting them the trend of the summer and giving Rihanna and Rita Ora credit.

They lend an easy sense of tomboy cool, especially to girlier outfits (like a pencil skirt and a sweatshirt). A baseball cap would look just as cool with an even more ladylike version of this outfit—say, with a button-down blouse or silky tank instead of the (insanely cool) Mickey sweatshirt. Throwing a backward cap on with the pencil skirt and blouse uniform is a genius way to take your office look to drinks.

Another outfit that’s instantly improved with the addition of a cap? Double denim — especially relaxed cutoff shorts! I love this look with classic sunglasses and thick-strap sandals (or, if you’re me, Adidas pool slides!) for bopping around the city on the weekend. Slick on a bit of bronzer and some Aquaphor on your lips for the ultimate cool-girl-tomboy ensemble.

Finally, there’s nothing I love more than a simple little sheath minidress with a cap. A cap instantly tones down the sexiness of a mini or body-con dress and gives the look an overall cool-girl vibe. I think the whole thing looks adorable with a pair of white Converse or, if you’re going a little fancier, maybe some low-heel sandals.

Above all, the thing I love best about baseball caps is that they protect your skin from the sun! There’s really no reason not to get on it.
