Ooh, look who else was at the Orla Kiely event last night: extreme style crush Alexa Chung, who looked enviously amazing per usual in a polka dotted suit (in blue, too, hm. …) by the designer.
How does she manage to look so amazing in this heat? Can she please impart some of her personal style secrets to the rest of us? As Alexa was about to hit the turntables to DJ the rest of the evening (and sneaking in a quick snack of cheese on a spoon—inventive hors d’oeuvres), I cornered her with a few very crucial questions.
GLAMOUR:We’re at that time of the year where we’re sick of our summer clothes, but it’s so hot, we still have to wear them. What are your tips on refreshing your wardrobe to finish out the season?
Alexa Chung: I’m really awful for dressing for summer because I’m English and I’m not used to it being this hot. I don’t really have any tricks. I’m struggling myself to be honest with you!
Okay, what about your wardrobe essentials to transition from summer-to-fall?
AC: I like army shirts, like a khaki green army shirt or I don’t know. … sorry. I’m crap. I’ve decided that I can’t really talk about clothes because I’m really sh*t at it.
That’s funny because you’re really good at wearing clothes.
AC: Actions speak louder than words? What are some good transitional pieces? Jumpsuits, rompers are quite good. Yes, and shorts suits, but with tights in the winter. As long as everything is above the knee.
I follow you on Instagram and you’ve been giving us little sneak peeks of your upcoming book. What can you tell us that we don’t know already?
AC: I don’t really know. I’ve already been quite honest about it already, there’s no secret thing. I got the first copy a week ago and I’m really really proud of it.
Well, I, for one, am very interested in reading the book when it comes out in October. Maybe Alexa’s more comfortable writing about her personal style than talking about it?
